Recreation Plantation Installs Solar Array With Power Production Management

LADY LAKE, Fla. – Recreation Plantation RV Resort is home to about 1500 residents in Lady Lake, FL. The RV resort is home to a swimming pool, gym, billiards room, volleyball courts, and championship tennis courts. Recently, Recreation Plantation decided to install a 20.6 kW solar system on its clubhouse.

Recreation Plantation was founded in 1984 with the idea of being a “Home Away From Home”, priding itself on its state-of-the-art RV facility. The park offers daily activities ranging from bingo to quilting to softball. Prior to opening, Grant Gore, the owner and operator of Recreation Plantation, visited RV parks nationwide weaving together the best ideas to become the premier RV resort in Florida. The result of Gore’s hard work has been the designation of a Recreation Plantation as a ‘Five Star’ park for the last 25 years.

PPM installed the array using 63 SunPower panels. These SunPower panels are the most efficient, highest-yield panels available in the solar industry. Recreation Plantation will see an average yearly internal rate of return (IRR) of over 12%. The panels are guaranteed by SunPower to produce clean energy for the next 25 years.

“I started building Recreation Plantation in 1984 and have owned and operated it ever since. I don't plan on selling, so it makes good financial sense to install the system,” said Gore.

Gore believes that his customers are concerned about their environmental impact. According to Gore, he sees his customers trying their best to conserve, recycle, and use environmentally-friendly products.

“I want my existing customers to be proud of the park they live in and know they live in a campground that cares.”

Alex Khokhlov, Director at PPM, was in charge of the project’s installation and success.
